What's New?
Property and Booking Limits
Properties purchased after February 23, 2023, can only be operated as short-term rentals if they are the owner’s primary residence.
A maximum of three additional properties can be operated as short-term rentals if purchased on or before that date.
Primary residences can be rented for a maximum of 150 nights a year, without the operator present.
All short-term rentals are limited to 29 consecutive nights per booking.
Safety Measures
Stringent safety standards are introduced, including the installation and maintenance of fire safety equipment, display of emergency exit plans, and provision of a 24/7 emergency contact number.
Operators must display information on human trafficking and sex trafficking, developed in collaboration with the National Human Trafficking Education Centre.
Accommodation Tax
A new five percent accommodation tax, similar to that applied to hotel rooms, will be collected on all short-term rental bookings.
Airbnb and Vrbo will facilitate the inclusion of this tax through their booking processes.
